Worsted Bear OUTFIT
A Precious Pals Pattern

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn Size 5 & 7
Needles
Size 5 DP Needles
Gauge: 5 sts = 1"
7 rows= 1"
Stitches: St.st. - K 1 row; P 1 row
Twisted Rib - Kltbl, P1
SWEATER
Cast On 28 sts. with smaller needles. Work in K1, P1, twisted rib
for 6 rows.
Change to larger needles and work in st.st. until
work measure 3". End on Wrong Side Row. Do not break yarn or
bind off. CO 12 stitches at the end of the last row (for sleeve).
Knit the just CO stitches (12), work twisted rib on body sts. and
CO 12 sts. (for sleeve) at the end of the row.
Work sleeve sts. in st.st. and body sts. in twisted
rib until piece measures 4 1/4" from bottom, ending with a
wrong side row.
Next row - Working in st.st. only, K 14 sts.,
BO 24 sts. K remaining 14 sts. Work one side at a time in st.st.
until sleeves measure 2 1/2" End with wrong side row.
Next row - K 14, CO 24, K 14. This joins all the
sleeve and body sts. together.
Next row - Purl.
Work 12 sts. in st.st., 28 sts in twisted rib,
and 12 sts. in st.st. until sleeve measures 4 1/4". The sleeves
are now complete.
Next row - BO 12 sts., K to the end of the row.
Next row - BO 12 sts., Purl to the end of the
row.
Finish the back the same as the front, remembering
to switch to smaller needles for the twisted rib at the bottom.
Pick up 28 sts. on end of each sleeve for cuffs,
with smaller size needles. Work 6 rows of twisted rib. BO.
Neck Edge: With smaller needles pick-up 68 sts.
around.
K 4 rounds, decreasing 2 sts. on 4th round.
Next row - "K 2tog, K4". Repeat around
(55 sts.).
Next row - K one round.
Next row - "K 2 tog, K 3". - Repeat
around.
Work 3 rounds of K ltbl, P 1 rib. BO.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
*******For bear with shorter arms, CO 5 sts for
each sleeve.
PANTS
CO 34 sts. with smaller needles. Work twisted
rib for 6 rows. Change to larger needles and work to desired length
to waistline. Work 6 rows twisted rib with smaller needles. BO (13"
bear - 5 ", then rib). Make two.
To form legs: With pieces folded lengthwise, sew
to proper length to the crotch, then join front sides of each piece,
then back sides.
HAT (for 13" bear only)
CO 42 sts with smaller needles and work 3 rows
of twisted rib. Change to larger needles and st.st., increasing
14 sts. on next row. Work st.st. for 5 rows.
Next row - "K5, K 2tog." repeat to the
end of row. (48 sts.) Purl 1 row.
Decrease next row - "K4, K 2tog" rep.
to the end of row. (40 sts.) Purl 1 row.
Dec. row - "K3, K 2tog" rep. to end.(32
sts.) Purl 1 row.
Dec. row - "K2, K 2tog." to end. (24
sts.) Purl 1 row.
Next row - "K1, K 2tog" to end(16 sts.)
Purl 1 row.
Last row: K 2tog to end of row. Cut yarn, leaving
a tail long enough to draw through remaining sts. and tighten. Join
and sew seam.
