The Art of Knitting Noni Flowers
Revel in a two-day workshop with Nora J. Bellows teaching from her new book, Noni Flowers (Potter Craft, April 2012). Decorate your holiday table with knitted flowers of lasting beauty. Combine multiple flowers to embellish felted or fabric pillows with exquisite bouquets of your own creation, or decorate the top of a gift box in a way that is as beautiful as the gift itself . . .
You will not only learn to make beautiful knitted flowers to felt (or not) and use as embellishments for bags, gifts, garments, shoes, afghans and more, but you will be encouraged to explore your own creative impulses in combining different flowers together for unique results. We will learn the foundational techniques used in virtually every flower in Noni Flowers, beginning with simpler flowers and moving to progressively more elaborate ones. We will discuss and practice how to finish the flowers, wire and embellish them for stunning results.
Join exquisite finisher Arenda J. Holladay in this two day workshop which will introduce you to the basic principles of knitwear design. We will work with gauge, stitch patterns and provided measurements to develop patterns for a hat, fingerless mitten and a simple sweater. You do not have to be an expert knitter to take this workshop buy you should have a basic knowledge of the increase and decrease techniques used for shaping knitted fabric. If you have thought about progressing through TKGA’s Master Hand Knitting Program, this class will help you perfect your finishing techniques, an important element in the program.
Michelle Hunter’s Colorworks introduces knitters to the wonderful array of stitch patterns and techniques produced with multiple colors of yarn. Soon to be Michelle’s newest book, the workshop will demystify color knitting all while creating a gorgeous baby-sized sampler afghan. Techniques include intarsia, colorful cables, embroidery, advanced striping and more. Gain confidence with strategies to hold, carry and weave yarns expertly. Learn to knit deliciously fun stitches and patterns that only look difficult to execute. In class, six panels will be started along with finishing and border instructions.
